New York
The name of New York City (NYC) remind everyone of tall skyscrapers , yellow taxies , The UN Headquarters and the 9/11 shocking accident. JFK Airport is very famous throughout the world and I was eager to see it. When I got to Terminal 3 of this airport , it was not well-designed or beautiful.
JFK Airport has eight terminals and I had heard that Terminal 5 is the most beautiful among them.
NYC was extremely crowded and had very bad traffic.
The drivers were impatient and you could hear the car horns , police , ambulances and fire engines siren everywhere.
When I was there , it was December of 2014 so people had decorated their houses and work places with Christmas Trees and tiny lights.
NYC is a very expensive city and Manhattan is the most expensive area in this metropolitan city.
Most tourist attractions are in Manhattan.
Times Square is one of the most famous places in NYC that shines at night when ever the huge , wide LCD sings change their images and advertisements.
The police are everywhere and Manhattan is awake until midnight , though.
NYC is an exception to other cities in the United States.
My hotel was a block away from Times Square and I was able to go to several attractions around there and walk to Madame Tussaud’s Museum.
Rockefeller Center , St.Patrick’s Cathedral , the Fifth Avenue shopping area and the public library of New York since these were all around there.
I had heard the name Rockefeller before as it was the name of a very rich American , but I did not know anything about Rockefeller Center.
There were some tall buildings , an ice skating rink and a very big Christmas tree there.
Many people were there and several were skating on the ice.
The Radio City building is in front of the Rockefeller Center.
The statue of Liberty is located on a small island outside NYC which is called Liberty Island.
I boarded a ferry to go there. The statue is more than 90 meters high and appears to be looking at Manhattan.
I also visited the U.N Headquarters.
Visitors must book the date and time for when they want to visit inside this building.
Taking videos is not allowed but taking photos is .
The tour guide showed us some halls and rooms where the Security Council and the Financial Council meet but did not take us to the main U.N meeting hall.
Wall Street is the most famous street in NYC but it is not wide.
This street has become well-known because of the N.Y. Stock Exchange and several big financial companies being there.
Before getting to the 9/11 memorial , there is an engraved stone monument on a wall with the image of the firemen who were trying to extinguish the fire that occurred because of that incident.
Then you can see the photos of 343 firemen who were killed on the 11th of September of 2001.
They reconstructed a skyscraper in place of one of the two collapsed World Trade Center building but there now is a big pool instead of the other one.
The names of the victims are written around this pool.
The Metropolitan Museum which is located in NYC is one of the most famous museums in the world.
The Empire State was the tallest building in NYC before the two World Trade Center skyscrapers were constructed.
People can buy tickets and go to the top floor of the Empire State building and see NYC from there.
One of the most notable things I saw in NYC was broken Clashnikov Gun that had been changed into a musical instrument in the U.N Headquarters.
As I have described before , NYC is an exception among the cities of the United States.
Most of restaurants usually shut at 9 or 10 P.M in America and there are only a few people on the streets after sunset , but Manhattan is awake and lively until midnight.
